British Council Library Celebrates World Book Day with Exciting Activities for Book Lovers
Reading is an essential skill that enriches our lives and opens doors to new worlds. It is through reading that we can learn and grow intellectually. Reading not only expands our knowledge but also enhances our imagination and creativity. To celebrate World Book Day and the joy of reading, British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, invites Delhiites of all ages to take part in fun-filled activities and interactive sessions in the heart of the city.
British Council has always promoted reading and literary events to empower children and encourage students to learn as they have fun. The British Council Library is excited to celebrate the World Book Day with patrons and the wider community. The interactive sessions aim to promote reading and writing and create a platform for book enthusiasts to come together and share their passion for literature. The session on ‘Share Your Experience’ will provide an opportunity to book lovers, 7-17 years of age, to share experiences and stories about their favourite books and listen to interesting anecdotes from their peers.
For those aged 18 years and above, the library has two sessions lined up. The first session, “Immersed in Books,” will be an interactive session that explores the quality of being in the “here” and the “now,” essentially witnessing the present moment for what it is, and fully immersing ourselves in the experiences unfolding around us. The second session, “Deep Reading,” will explore the practice of applying mindfulness to the process of reading and being present in the act of reading. This session will help us blur the boundaries between the reader and what is being read, forming a more layered and nuanced understanding of the text. With deep reading, we are also able to retain and learn better.
