BYJU’S Education For All and Udayan Care come together to impart quality digital learning to children from underserved communities

With an aim to educate and empower children from underserved backgrounds with quality education and equal learning opportunities, BYJU’S ‘Education for All’ social impact initiative has recently collaborated with Delhi-based child and youth care NGO, Udayan Care. Envisioned as a pan-India initiative, the partnership aims at distributing over 1500 licenses to underserved students – orphaned children from the Udayan Ghar Program as well as girls from resource-poor families from the Udayan Shalini Fellowship Program. The programs are spread across Chennai, Delhi, Dehradun, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Jaipur, Kurukshetra, and Kolkata.

Children from vulnerable families suffer innumerable challenges including little or no access to quality education. As part of this partnership, BYJU’S EFA and Udayan Care aim to apply various digital interventions and address accessibility challenges by providing free learning programs to students between classes 4-12. These students will have access to exclusive content on BYJU’S learning app that is personalized and digitally-enabled to suit every child’s learning requirement. The collaboration between BYJU’S and Udayan Care is another positive step towards achieving BYJU’S vision of empowering 10 million underserved children across India by 2025.

Udayan Care runs multiple programs to support underserved children and youth. Under the Udayan Ghar program, orphaned, abandoned and children without parental care are given care, protection and holistic development support upto 18 years of age. On turning 18, these young adults continue to be supported under the Udayan Ghar Aftercare program – where they are trained to start living independently as adults.

The Udayan Shalini Fellowship program is an education excellence and personality development program for girls from financially challenged backgrounds who are in peril of dropping out of the formal education system. It offers scholarships, personalized mentoring, and a curated program of trainings and workshops in life skills and employability skills.

Speaking about the collaboration, Mansi Kasliwal, VP-Social Initiatives, BYJU’S, said, “At BYJU’S, we believe in empowering children through equal learning opportunities irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds or locations. Our partnership with Udayan Care ensures digital learning tools are made accessible to homeless or orphaned children to help them pursue their dreams and aspirations. This collaboration is a step to reinforce our vision of bridging the digital divide in learning and we look forward to working with more such like-minded partners to bring about a better tomorrow. The objective is to be able to deliver a holistic program on the ground and ensure that children are not deprived of quality learning opportunities required for their overall growth and development”.

“BYJU’S Learning App has made learning so much fun. It has brought back the curiosity children have about the world. The app has helped our children to stay focused during the pandemic and has made learning enjoyable. It has also helped our children and youth to understand concepts better with visualization and constant support from the mentors”, says Anjali Hegde, Executive Director, Udayan Care.

Launched in 2020, BYJU’S flagship social impact initiative ‘Education for All’ aims at bringing about a positive systemic change to the education ecosystem. With a mission to empower 10 million underprivileged children by 2025, the initiative has already impacted 5.5 million children in the remotest corners of the country through 175+ NGOs across 400 districts. Reinforcing its dedication to providing girls with an equal opportunity to learn, nearly 50% of the beneficiaries of BYJU’S Education for All programs are girls.
