Celebration & Observance of National Education Day-2020 at Central University of Odisha, Koraput
Koraput: As the part of the celebration & observance of National Education Day-2020 on the birth anniversary of freedom fighter and Independent India’s first education minister- Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Central University of Odisha, Koraput organized a Webinar on 11th November, 2020 on Ensuring quality in higher education: Praxis and benchmarking standards. Prof. Banabihari Mishra, Former Senior Professor of Education, Mizoram University and Prof. Arvind Kumar Jha, Dean, School of Education, Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow spoke on the above subject as the Panel speakers. The Vice-Chancellor of Central University of Odisha, Prof. I.Ramabrahmam inaugurated the webinar and conveyed his best wishes on the occasion of National Education Day.
In his address Vice-Chancellor mentioned about the vision of National Education Policy which envisions an education system that contributes to transform our nation sustainably into a vibrant knowledge society by providing quality education. He remarked that Quality education is the education that best fits the present and future of the learners and higher education requires special emphasis and has major role to play in determining the quality of life and the pace of development of a nation and the world as a whole.
Prof. Mishra mentioned that dedication and commitment of both teachers and students is absolutely necessary in improving the quality of education and shaping the future of nation. He also emphasised on the access to the highest-quality education for all learners regardless of social and economic background.
Prof. Jha, highlighted about the quality teaching in higher education which matters for student learning outcomes. He mentioned that quality of higher education is a priority area for both higher education institutions and policy makers.
Prof. Saroj Panigrahi, Professor and HoD of the Dept. Mathematics delivered the concluding remarks and extended the vote of thanks. In the beginning floral tributes paid to Maulana Azad. Dr. Ramaneda Kumar Parhi, DSW I/c. and Dr. Phagunath Bhoi, PRO coordinated the programme.
