Central University of Punjab Vice Chancellor Prof. Tiwari shared future roadmap with the Science Faculty

Bathinda: The Vice Chancellor of Central University of Punjab Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari addressed the science faculty & officers for sharing his vision and roadmap for the next five years to take CUPB to new heights & contribute meaningfully for improving the socio-economic conditions of the society.

While addressing the faculty members, Prof. Tiwari stated that the primary aim of CUPB is to empower students through a sound education system & to impart in them the competencies, life-skills, ethos and values to become a meaningful citizen of the globalized world. He further stated that to achieve this objective we need to implement all imperatives of NEP-2020 and adopt transformative and translational approaches in all aspects of education. He mentioned that with the efforts of our talented faculty CUPB in a short life-span of 11 years has made its mark in the list of top 100 Universities of India by securing 87th position in NIRF 2020 India Rankings. He urged CUPB faculty to strive hard to improve University Rankings further, and serve the society in the befitting manner.

While sharing his vision and roadmap for the next five years, Prof. Tiwari appealed to all faculty members and officers to adopt learner-centric teaching pedagogy aimed at generating critical thinking ability & developing problem-solving skills in students. He added, we need to mentor students inculcate the spirit of universal brotherhood and carry values of diverse culture of our nation. He emphasized that research scholars should be motivated to conduct research on finding innovative solutions for contemporary issues of our society and on the ways to achieve Sustainable Development Goals. Also, our objective of research should be to find solutions to the local and regional issues like groundwater contamination in Malwa region. He underlined that, in post-COVID-19 times, online digital education will be the new normal and CUPB faculty should focus on developing Online Educational Resources for MOOCs & CUPB Learning Management System. He highlighted there is a need to promote the culture of innovation & entrepreneurship and activities like Smart Hackathon, Innovative Idea Competitions, Industry Visits etc should be organised to nurture budding entrepreneurs. He encouraged CUPB faculty to develop innovative process for collaborative working with industry, understand the market requirements and develop skills of students to enhance their employability chances accordingly.

During his address, Prof. Tiwari highlighted that we need to focus on adopting environment-friendly sustainable practices and promote paperless working. He asserted the CUPB has to play important role in bringing social change and we should organise maximum activities such as mentoring of school teachers/students, awareness programmes for society, plantation drives, health check-up camps etc, as a part of Institutional Social Responsibility. He shared that to achieve the Prime Minister’s vision of Atam Nirbhar Bharat, we should aim to make CUPB ‘Self Sustainable University’ in future and efforts should be made to generate revenue by offering knowledge-consultancy to industry & corporates for the growth of University.

 

He referred to the quote of Bharat Ratna Dr A.P.J Abdul Kalam that excellence is a continuous process where as an organisation we need to continuously strive together and motivate everyone to join together on the journey towards excellence.

On this occasion, Prof. S.K. Bawa, Director, IQAC, Prof. R.K. Wusirika, Dean In-charge, Academics, Prof. V.K. Garg, Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Anjana Munshi, Dean Research, CUPB science faculty, and Officers of the University were present.
