Professor Guy André Boy was elected full member of the International Academy of Astronautics (section 2, Engineering Sciences). He was officially inducted on September 17, 2022.
The International Academy of Astronautics (IAA: International Academy of Astronautics) elects the world’s foremost experts in astronautics for the benefit of mankind. The IAA was founded in Stockholm on August 16, 1960. The IAA’s first president was Doctor Theodore von Karman , one of the most important figures in rocketry evolution.
The IAA is an independent non-governmental organization recognized by the United Nations in 1996. The members of the IAA come from all over the world, that is to say from approximately 83 countries. Since 1960, the IAA has regularly brought together the world’s leading experts in the disciplines of astronautics: to recognize the achievements of their peers, to explore and discuss cutting-edge issues in space research and technology, and to provide guidance and advice on non-military uses of space and the continued exploration of the solar system.
The IAA is involved in many scientific activities. For example, the Academy promotes international scientific cooperation through conferences, symposia and meetings in the following areas:
space science
space life sciences, space technology and systems development
operation and use of space systems
space policy, law and economics
space and society, culture and education
organizes more than 30 conferences per year
publishes cosmic studies covering a wide variety of topics, including space exploration, space debris, small satellites, space traffic management, natural disasters, climate change, and more.
publishes the journal of the International Academy of Astronautics ACTA ASTRONAUTICA, which ranks first in the world in the field of astronautics
publishes dictionaries in 24 languages; and publishes series of books on small satellites, conference proceedings, remote sensing and history
