Chinese Ural Federal University Students Continue Distance Learning
Students of the Ural Federal University from China returned home because of the pandemic. Despite the fact that they live in different cities and provinces, classes continue in a remote format. Online learning is organized for students of five undergraduate programs: construction, water supply and sanitation, architecture, geodesy and remote sensing, heat power engineering and heat engineering. UrFU implements these programs together with North China University of Water Resources and Hydropower within the framework of the Ural Institute project.
“Our joint educational project is important not only for two universities, but also for the development of cooperation between the two countries,” says Alena Nevolina, director of the academic development directorate, project manager for the creation and implementation of joint educational projects with Chinese universities. “It helps to form a single educational space, strengthens international cooperation and the economic foundation of countries.”
In the preparation and implementation of educational content, teaching staff of UrFU works with colleagues from China. For training use they adapted methodology and presentation materials, video lectures. Three to four classes are conducted daily for students. The lectures are also attended by 150 students of the partner university. All disciplines are taught in Russian.
“At the same time, in May – June, the North China University of Water Resources and Hydropower accredits our joint undergraduate program“ Construction, ”says Alena Leonidovna. – Accreditation is carried out by the Ministry of Education of the PRC, and it is very important for us that the program receives good grades. This will allow us to develop our cooperation and increase the number of joint programs not only with this partner, but also with other universities in China.”
