Speaking on the occasion Dr. Kumar, Executive Secretary COMEDK said, “Karnataka is the center for higher education for the last 5 decades and has been the most preferred destination for Engineering aspirants, because of the choice of colleges, quality of education and higher employability rate after completion. In recent years, we have seen a steep rise in the number of students taking the entrance test from outside Karnataka as well as local Karnataka students. We are anticipating that this year will be different, as colleges and schools are opening doors across the country. COMEDK for the last 15 years has been facilitating smooth conduct of the exam nationally: This year too we will ensure safety measures are in place while conducting the exam and admissions”

He further adds, “In line with NEP 2020, we have also launched Comedkares, advanced skill centers for engineering students to stay up to date on new and emerging technologies. Our focus here is to put more emphasis on skill and inter disciplinary education to make the next generation future-ready. The premise underlying this initiative was that many institutions, particularly those in rural areas lack good infrastructure and laboratories, hence the skill centers will bridge this gap for students enrolled in all member institutions of COMEDK. We plan to establish 8 advanced skill centers all across Karnataka in the following locations (Kalburgi, Dharwad, Belagavi, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mysore, Dakshina Kannada and Bangalore) and each Skill Lab will support 10 to 12 member institutions. These Skill Labs will focus on the use of rapid prototyping tools, Machine learning & Artificial Intelligence and developing an innovative mind set in them. Thus establishing relevant industrial exposure which will ensure students are job ready & provide a pathway for entrepreneurial careers.”

ComedK – Uni – GAUGE has become the second-largest multi-university private engineering exam in India, with 190+ institutions and 50 plus Universities accepting scores. With a reach of 150 cities and 400 test centers, it has gained significant momentum over the years.

“Much like the GRE as a single platform, Uni-GAUGE is our attempt to provide a single exam for admission to Universities all over India. We have always strived to provide a safe environment for students to comfortably take up the examinations. Despite the pandemic conditions, we conducted the examination in over 400 centers while adhering to all safety regulations.” says P. Muralidhar, CEO, ERA Foundation.

He further added, “While ensuring safety standards at each center, we are aiming to accommodate a higher number of students this year. We will have the exam in 2 sessions, one beginning at 09:00 a.m. and ending at 12:00 p.m., and the other from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.”
