Conversation on training personnel for the forestry complex

On October 29, a meeting of the staff of the Institute of Forest, Mining and Construction Sciences of PetrSU with the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the region Andrei Ivanovich Karpilovich took place.
One of the main topics of the meeting is personnel training for the forestry complex of the Republic of Karelia.

Andrei Ivanovich noted that in recent years in Karelia there has been a particularly shortage of personnel for the forestry industry and in solving this issue the main role is assigned to the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences. In addition to the ILGiSN staff, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technologies, as well as the IT-park of PetrSU.

The meeting discussed the possibility of support from the ministry of future forestry specialists who are still studying at PetrSU, attracting school graduates from the regions of the republic to training forest professions, the potential of targeted training. It is proposed to make wider use of the possibilities of hybrid education, both for basic and additional education, to more widely inform schoolchildren and potential applicants about professions in the forestry complex, to plan joint actions in the field of vocational guidance.

The interest on the part of the ministry in the field of promoting projects on organizing educational and scientific cooperation of the institute with logging and timber industry enterprises was noted. In particular, they discussed the issue of introducing and studying the processes of intensive forest use, especially in connection with giving Karelia the status of a pilot region for the intensification of forest use, the allocation of new nature protection zones.

The issues of the state of reforestation on the territory of the republic, the expansion of the current control of forest plantations were discussed. It was noted that these works are carried out and are regulated by federal legislation, however, if there are comments on the conduct of reforestation work, then measures should be taken. In this regard, it was proposed to develop proposals from specialists of the Institute of Forestry and Forestry and to hold a number of working meetings to discuss narrower topics related to the functioning of the forest complex of Karelia.

Problems of digitalization in the forestry complex, research in the field of intensification of methods for monitoring the state of the forest fund, wider use of automatic and remote control methods, as well as teaching students to these new technologies were touched upon.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environment A.I. Karpilovich thanked the staff of the Institute for effective professional work in the field of personnel training for the forestry complex of the Republic of Karelia, presented letters of thanks and awards to the Head of the Republic and wished further successful work to the teachers and staff.
