Faculty counsellors in schools made students aware about the portal for reporting of cybercrimes, social media handles, resource material by the Ministry of Home affairs for various updates on cyber security.

Counselling Cell DSEJ coordinated these activities in schools under the able guidance of Dr. Ravi Shankar Sharma, Director School Education Jammu.

Directorate of School Education, Jammu has issued written directions along with suggestive topics to all the Heads of Schools through CEOs to create mass awareness about cyber security by observing ‘Cyber Jaagrookta (Awareness) Diwas’ on first Wednesday of every month besides other awareness programmes.

The exponential increase in the number of internet users in India and rapidly evolving technologies have brought in its own unique challenges, besides aggravating the existing problems of cybercrimes, which is one of the fastest growing forms of transnational and insidious crimes. This makes cyber awareness an important tool the students need to be equipped with.

The Ministry of Home Affairs is implementing a scheme called the ‘Indian Cyber Co-ordination Centre (14C)’ to deal with cyber-crimes in a coordinated and comprehensive manner. This Ministry has developed a ‘national Cybercrime Reporting Portal’ for ease of filling of complaints relating to cyber-crimes by citizens on ’anywhere, anytime’ basis.

Pertinently Counselling cell DSEJ has recently conducted a fortnightly campaign on cyber security in which all the relevant topics on cyber security were deliberated upon.
