DC inaugurates Apprenticeship Mela-2022 at Ramban

 

RAMBAN : Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam today inaugurated Apprenticeship Mela-2022 in the premises of Government Industrial Training Institute, Ramban.

The Mela was organized by the Department of Skill Development District Ramban in collaboration with other departments.

Superintendent ITI, Baldev Raj and faculty members of ITI were also present on the occasion. The departments had put up awareness stalls on varied schemes meant for promotion of self employment and entrepreneurship .

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the Government has taken up this initiative with an aim to support the engagement of more and more apprentices and assist employers in tapping the right talent and developing it further with training and providing practical skill sets.

He said that the National Policy of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. It recognizes apprenticeship as a means to provide gainful employment to a skilled workforce with adequate compensation.

The DC directed the Superintendent ITIs to focus on trades which assures employability of trainees in National projects like NH-44 four laning and Railway projects. “The skilled workforce will help fill the gap in supply and demand” he said and added that on-the-job training was twice as important for securing gainful employment.

The DC also advised the youth to go for agro based startups as the same has huge potential with locally available raw material.

The event witnessed participation of a large number of youth especially trainees of ITI Ramban enrolled for different trades such as electrical, Plumber, IT, Electronics and Automobiles, Fashion Designing etc.

The departments dealing with job and youth oriented schemes and programmes encouraged the trainees to start self employment units to become entrepreneurs and provide job opportunities to others.

The officers including GM DIC, Vishwajeet sanitized the aspiring youth about various financial assistance schemes including PMEGP, TEJASWANI, MUMKIN and various other job oriented schemes launched by the agriculture and allied department.
