DC Kathua launches plantation drive under Backyard Horticulture

Kathua: Deputy Commissioner, O. P. Bhagat today inaugurated the plantation drive under Backyard Horticulture programme to meet the nutritional requirement of every house hold and to increase the vegetative cover of area.
Chief Horticulture Officer Shushil K. Angurana, Block Development Council Chairman Kathua Raghubir Singh, Sarpanches and Panches of Panchayats Changran and Chak Desa Singh, farmers besides District Officers of the Horticulture Development Office were present on the occasion.
DC informed that under the scheme 16000 identified household shall be covered and every household shall be provided three numbers of plants at 90% subsidy.
DC stressed for promotion of local varieties of the fruit plants best suited to the climatic condition of the locality in addition to commercial cultivars to check the monkey menace.
