DC Kathua reviews implementation of Self Employment Schemes; Stresses on ensuring sustainable employment opportunities

 

KATHUA : District Development Commissioner Kathua Rahul Pandey today convened a meeting to review the implementation of different Schemes, with special focus on self employment generation programmes.

During the meeting, the officers from line departments briefed the chair about the status of coverage of beneficiaries under various self employment schemes of their departments.

At the outset, the Assistant Director Employment Naresh Gupta informed the chair about different schemes of self employment being implemented in the district. He also apprised the DC about the status of survey regarding employment scenario of the district.

Addressing the meeting, the DC directed AD Employment to work on District Employment Plan after conducting an exercise at panchayat level and mapping people as per their skill set. He also directed for sharing of data with stakeholder departments and agencies so as to ensure coverage of unemployed people under different schemes.

The DC stressed upon making people self-reliant, independent and providing them with sustainable employment. He directed the concerned officers to make a profile of industries and prepare the workforce by targeting the industrial needs.

The OSD to Mission Youth Gourav Gupta gave a detailed presentation on different self employment schemes offered by mission youth viz Mumkin, Tejaswani, Dental Clinics, Spurring Entrepreneurship, Sahyata, Rise Together, Tourist Village Network etc. which aims to provide a vibrant medium for youth engagement and Empowerment.

The Deputy Commissioner impressed upon the officers to ensure maximum coverage of unemployed youth of the district under different schemes of Mission Youth for generation of self employment avenues. He directed them to work in close coordination and help the youth in getting enrolled under various ambitious schemes of the Mission Youth.

The DC took a comprehensive review of schemes being run by Animal Husbandry, Agriculture, Horticulture, Handloom & Handicraft, Sheep Husbandry, Sericulture etc and directed for mapping the unemployed with the qualifying parameters of the scheme so as to bring them under their ambit.

While directing the officer from the Tourism department, the DC laid thrust on convergence of schemes of different departments so as to ensure holistic development of areas being projected under the tourist village network.

The DC directed the Banks for early sanction/disbursement of all cases under self employment after exercising due diligence and act as facilitator.

Besides, the meeting was also attended by CPO Uttam Singh, GM Industries, CAO, CHO, AD Handloom/Handicrafts and other officers.
