DC Kishtwar chairs DLMC meet to review promotion of FPOs

Kishtwar: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Sharma today chaired meeting of District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) for Central Sector Schemes (CSS) to discuss the modalities for the formation and promotion of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO) in the District.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Planning kishtwar Mohammad Iqbal; Assistant commissioner Development, Kishore Singh Katoch; Chief Agriculture Officer, S K Bhagat; LDM Nasir Hussain Bhat, besides other concerned officers.

It was decided in the meeting that clusters would be formulated for different agriculture as well as horticulture crops including Saffron, Maize, Rajma, paddy, Peanut, Walnut to provide best marketing facility to the farmers.

The DDC directed the officers of line departments to register one to two hundred farmers in a cluster and identify the potential crops in the different areas which can be promoted on large scale.

He further directed the chief Agriculture Officer and Chief Horticulture Officer to conduct an interactive meeting with the people and identify the potential crop which can be taken up by the FPOs for the promotion.

He also asked the officers to explore the possibilities to conduct a survey to assess the total production potential and measures needed for improving the same.
