DC Kulgam visits several areas of Noorabad, reviews post Snowfall situation
Kulgam: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat today conducted an extensive tour of various areas of Noorabad to take firsthand appraisal of snow clearance operations, restoration of essential services besides taking stock of the availability of essential commodities.
The DC visited K.B.Pora, Nihama, Aharbal, Watoo, Gopalpora, Manzgam, D.H.Pora besides other areas and enquired people about the availability of essentials. He also inspected ration sale centers and conducted market checking directing officers to ensure regular market checking to curb black marketing, profiteering and hoarding.
Later, the DC chaired a meeting of officers at Block Complex D.H.Pora to take detailed review of progress made so far vis-à-vis restoring essential services besides he also took stock of availability of essentials.
It was given out in the meeting that 2 snow cutters along with other snow clearing machines have been pressed into service to carry out the clearance operations and out of total 441 roads, snow clearance on majority of the roads has been completed while work on the remaining is in progress.
The DC said that all the receiving stations are functioning properly and the electricity has also been restored in all parts of the district.
The meeting was informed that 18408 quintals of rice have been dumped at 76 dumping centers in the district besides, a stock of 233700 litres of Diesel, 174300 litres of Petrol and 6827 LPG cylinders are also available.
With regard to damages caused to property in the district, the DC said that 252 structures have been reported damaged so far and directions have also been passed to the concerned to conduct damage assessment of these structures.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional Development Commissioner and Tehsildar D.H.Pora besides other officers.
