DC Shopian briefs media regarding Covid-19 situation in the district
Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today briefed the press regarding Covid-19 pandemic containment and mitigation measures in the district.
At the outset, the DC expressed gratitude to the citizens of the district for ensuring strict adherence to Covid-19 SOPs, guidelines that resulted in the decrease in the number of Covid positive cases in the district. He however cautioned against lowering the guard saying that the pandemic is not over yet and we need to continue strict adherence to the same to put an end to it.
The DC said that the Vaccination drive for the above 18 years age group has been started and complemented elected representatives at the Block and Panchayat level for their efforts.
He asked the people to contact the BDOs, Tehsildars and other concerned officers for details regarding the arrangements and location of vaccination sites. He further said that the administration needs the support of the citizens to control the pandemic.
The DC said that the administration is trying its level best to tackle the ongoing situations but it is a bipolar process so the local community needs to take up the cudgel for fighting against the epidemic and to emerge successful in our mission.
Giving details regarding the Covid statistics, the DC informed that till date 5533 positive cases have been reported in the district, out of which 5399 have recovered and only 75 are still active positive. He said the recovery rate has increased to 97.57 percent with 5399 recoveries so far and 59 deaths.
Regarding vaccination, he informed that so far 4712 doses have been given to the person in the age group of 18-44 years, at the rate of 942 doses per day. He said that 1264 covid medicine kits were also distributed among the COVID patients till date.
