DDC inspects mega FPB projects at Kulgam

Kulgam: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today inspected two mega flood protection bunds at Zungalpora and Aadigatnoo, both under the execution of the Rural Development Department.

During his visit to Aadigantnoo flood protection bund, the DDC was briefed by ACD that work on the 1992 ft concrete bund has been completed by the department under convergence mode.

While briefing about the structure of the bund, ACD Kulgam informed that the height of concrete bund is 24 ft with 12 feet bottom and a total expenditure of Rs 2.92 crore has been made on the project.

The DDC also instructed the ACD to start work on an additional portion of the bund. He also appreciated the Rural Development Department for constructing such durable and important projects in the district.

Later, DDC visited Zungalpora flood protection bund site and took stock of present status of the work project.

It was informed that work on 3.5 kilometer Zungalpora flood protection bund was taken up by the RDD department with an estimated cost of 26 crore.

This flood protection bund will help in averting floods and will benefit more than 11 villages in the area starting from Village Zungalpora.

On the occasion, the DDC also met people of the area who demanded for early completion of the flood protection bund for safety of near about a dozen villages of the area.
