Deliveroo India Development Centre Commences University Hiring Program

Deliveroo, the global food delivery company, announced its latest hiring initiative, aimed at recruiting university students from prestigious institutions. The initiative will give students the opportunity to work at the innovative food-tech company’s India Development Centre (IDC) located in Hyderabad.

The hiring initiative is part of Deliveroo’s ongoing commitment to leveraging the talent in the country and building a world-class team that drives their vision of being the definitive food company with technology at its helm. Earlier this year, Deliveroo’s CEO visited Hyderabad to mark IDC’s first anniversary and announced plans to further strengthen it, underscoring its significance within Deliveroo globally.

Some of the colleges Deliveroo plans on visiting include IIIT Hyderabad, NIT Warangal, Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), and Vasavi College of Engineering, Hyderabad.

Commenting on the initiative, Sashi Somavarapu, Vice President – Engineering and Country Head, Deliveroo India, said: “We are on track to exceed the 200 mark in terms of total employee strength in the country by year end. In line with our commitment to build a diverse and inclusive workforce, we aim to hire a number of female employees in this fresh round of hiring. Selected students, before kick starting their journey as full-time employees next year, will embark on a six-month internship program from January where they will get an opportunity to work closely with core engineering teams.”

Deliveroo’s IDC in India is the largest technology hub outside of the United Kingdom, where the company is headquartered and supports its primary engineering operations in its home country. By the end of 2023, more than 200 engineers will be based out of this centre, and it serves as a core part of Deliveroo’s central technology organisation having employees specialising in the field of backend engineering, analytics, platforms, automation, and machine learning.
