Deputy Com, DDC Chairperson meet Gandhri fire victims
Ramban: Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam today met with the victims of Gandhri block fire incident and took stock of losses caused by the overnight blaze.
Five shops and a dhaba, besides a car and two motorcycles parked nearby were gutted in the fire incident, which occurred late last night.
Immediately after reaching Gandhri, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the site of the incident. He directed Tehsildar, Ramban to immediately submit loss assessment report for processing the relief case as per norms. He assured to provide every possible help to victims under the Red Cross Fund.
Responding to the demand for an additional fire tender for the area, the DC assured to project the requirement of additional Fire tenders. He further said that the cause of fire and the extent of damage are being ascertained by the police.
The Deputy Commissioner held brief interaction with public representatives of the area and took first hand review of the demands of the people. The locals demanded upgrading of Kanga-Gandhi-Bathi road, creation of tourist facilities in the picturesque area, filling of vacant posts in GHHS Gandhri and OHC Bharti, provision of high density apple and fruit stock, rejuvenation of hand pumps, laying of new pavement tiles and plantation drive by the Forest Division Batote. They also raised the demand for a JKRTC bus service to the area to facilitate the residents.
Later, DDC Chairperson, Ramban, Dr. Shamshad Shan, also visited Gandhri and interacted with the fire victims and consoled them, besides taking stock of the situation.
While interacting with the DC, she appealed to the District Administration to provide every possible help to the victim families as they belong to poor section of the society.
