Design Hackathon conducted at Sri Sri University for Disaster Risk Reduction for resilient architecture
Bhubaneswar: The Faculty of Architecture Sri Sri University, Cuttack, Odisha along with Knowledge Partner TARU Leading Edge, an organization with trans-disciplinary expertise, launched a 3-Week Design Hackathon for the final year students of Bachelor in Architecture (B.Arch.).
A slum rehabilitation project in Bhoi Nagar, Bhubaneswar was chosen under the theme of. “Designing like people matter: Disaster risk-reduction for Resilient architecture’. The students will participate in the three-week of intense problem solving which culminated in seven design solutions that were evaluated by a panel of experts in an online jury on 06 August 2020.
The Event was graced by Prof. Dr. AK Singh, Vice Chancellor of Sri Sri University, Mr Manu Prakash, CEO of Taru Leading edge, senior members from TARU, faculty members and students of the department. The design proposals were appreciated for their originality and sensitivity to contemporary issues of slum rehabilitation and disaster resilience. The three week Hackathon which aimed to provide the much desired academia –Industry interface has identified scalable, replicable and implementable ideas to present to appropriate Government agencies. Sri Sri University focuses on pragmatic learning, which gives a lot of exposure to its student.
