Dharma Life Wins Big at the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles Awards, 2021

New Delhi :  Dharma Life (an initiative of Gajam India) is proud to announce that it has been conferred with the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP) Award 2021, as the winner in the Gender-Responsive Marketplace Category. This category recognizes organizations that have embraced gender-lens throughout their value chain.

The JAYA platform has been recognized for its efforts in empowering women and helping them take charge of their destiny to bring a positive and transformative difference to the world. JAYA has helped reach over 120,000 women and has trained more than 8,000 in a skilled livelihood. We pledge to keep creating on-ground impact that drives gender-responsive behaviour.

The Jaya Alliance programme sets out to help rural women transcend psychological and cultural barriers, provide interactive learning experiences to build new skillsets and offer access to job and entrepreneurship opportunities. This holistic, peer-driven, personalized approach guides rural women to economic empowerment. It is supported by Ford Foundation, Wheeler Institute for Business and Development, Accenture DACH & UN Women.

Launched worldwide in 2010 by UN Women and UN Global Compact, the WEPs is a holistic set of 7 principles that support business to advance gender equality in the workplace, marketplace and community. The UN women 2021 Asia-Pacific WEPs Awards focus on inspiring, supporting and recognising the endeavour of businesses that promote gender-inclusive business culture and practices. Aided by the guidance of Women’s Empowerment Principle, the awards aim at fostering gender equality in Asia-Pacific.
