DIC Poonch organises series of awareness programs on Poshan Abhiyan

 

POONCH : To sensitize the common masses about the healthy eating, malnutrition and obesity, the District Information Centre Poonch organized ‘POSHAN Abhiyan’ a series of awareness programmes in different areas of the district.

The programmes were organised in collaboration with the National Health Mission at Sub Division Hospital Surankote, PHC Lassana, PHC Bandichechian, High School Sathra and High School Arai.

An informative Nukkad Natak was presented by the Border Cultural Club Poonch artists Rupinder Kour, Rafia Rather, Tariq Hayat, Meenakshi sharma, Mohd.Sahil and others led by Kulbir Singh Anjana. The artists of the club also recited slogans and jingles to encourage the people to eradicate malnutrition.

Block Medical Officer, Surankote, Dr. Zulafkar was the chief guest, while Dr. Iqbal PHC Lassana, besides other doctors, locals and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.

Similar functions on Poshan Abhiyan were also organized at other places

Addressing the participants, the BMO Surankote said that the main objective of organizing this awareness campaign is to sensitize the general public about the nutritional needs of children of 0-6-year age, and lactating mothers.

He said that it is ‘our social and moral responsibility to be a part of the Prime Minister’s overarching scheme for holistic nutrition to achieve a malnutrition free India.’

Dr. Iqbal, PHC Lassana, also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of Poshan Abhiyan. He appealed to the common masses of the district to actively participate in the campaign to make the district free from malnutrition.
