Discussion of environmental issues in English
An online meeting of the “Environmental problems in Karelia” section was held, in which students of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agrotechnology took part.
The listeners, among whom were students of various courses of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agricultural Technologies, teachers and schoolchildren from Gymnasium No. 17, listened with great interest to reports in English on various topics: on the problems of pollution of the coastal zone of the White Sea, the impact of soil microbiota on human health, determination of the habitat of ticks in different regions of Karelia, the possibilities for the development of aquaculture in the context of sustainable development of Russia, the problems of disposal of plastic waste and many others.
After each presentation, the audience asked questions, to which the speakers tried to give comprehensive answers.
The jury consisting of the chairman E.I. Sokolova, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of Natural and Technical Directions and Specialties of the Institute of Foreign Languages, and members of O.L. Dobrynina, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages of Natural and Technical Directions and Specialties of the Institute of Foreign Languages (section head) and a postgraduate student of the first year of study A.G. Petrova (Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agricultural Technologies) after a long discussion awarded the first place to the report of the 11th grade student of Gymnasium No. 17 Ulyana Taeva for serious scientific work and excellent presentation of its results in English.
Second-year diplomas were awarded to 1st year students of the master’s program of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agrotechnology Sofia Lapina and Anastasia Soshina , third-degree diplomas will be awarded to 1st year students of the master’s program of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agricultural Technologies Alexander Pozdnyakov and Anastasia Pilipchuk .
