District Level Census 2021 Quiz Competition
Gangtok: The District Level Census 2021 Quiz Competition was held at the Conference Hall of District Administrative Centre (DAC) here at Sichey today. The quiz competition was organised by the Directorate of Census Operations,Sikkim in collaboration with the Education Department, Government of Sikkim to encourage the students to widen the knowledge regarding the Population Census.Rongli SS,Enchey SSS,Modern SSS,Tika Ram Niriula SSS and Dikling SSS participated in the District Level Census 2021 Quiz Competition .Smt Yashoda Bhandari, Director, Census Operations, Sikkim along with Shri A.D,Chettri,J oint Director (East),Education Department, Shri Tshering Bhutia, SDM,Gangtok and Smt Dorcus Targain ,Co-Ordinator,Education Department chaired the quiz competition as the esteemed judges. Krilesh Pradhan and Arpit Gupta from Rongli Secondary School won the competition. Phur Diki Sherpa and Dimple Lhamu Bhutia from Enchey SSS and Nirmal Chauhan and Tshering Yangden Lachenpa from Modern SSS were adjudged as the runners up and first runners up respectively. Smt Yashoda Bhandari in her brief address mentioned the importance of the Census process and added that the Indian Census is the most comprehensive and credible source of information on Demography (Population characteristics) and a basis for reviewing Economic Activity, Literacy and Education, Housing & Household Amenities, Urbanisation, Fertility and Mortality, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes,Language, Religion, Migration, Disability and many other socio-cultural and demographic data etc.
She also informed that Census 2021 will be a Digital Census with Mobile Apps used to collect data. She further mentioned that Census 2021 will be conducted in two phases. 1st phase will include House listing operations along with updation of National Population Register from 7th April 2020 to 22nd May 2020 while the 2nd phase of actual population enumeration would commence from 9th February 2021 to 28th February 2021 followed by revision round from 1st March to 5th March 2021.Esteemed judges gave away the certificates and trophies to the participants and the winners of the competition. Shri Ashish Thapa Quiz Master successfully conducted the competition.
