DLSA Reasi holds online awareness prog on Juvenile Justice

 

REASI : District Legal Services Authority, Reasi under the guidance and supervision of its chairman R.N. Wattal, organized an On-line program on “Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children ) Act, 2015 and Its Model Rules of 2016” in collaboration with Government High Schools of Dadooa, Sujandhar, Gran, Bhaga, Saloon, Nomain, Sirla Bhaga, Mager, Kotla, Theot and Kambal Danga, here today.

Sunali Khajuria, Legal Cum Probationary Officer JJB, Reasi acted as the resource person and Advocate Raj Kumar was the moderator of the said program.

Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary DLSA, delivered the introductory address on the topic.

The resource Person discussed in detail the historical background and also the provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. She also explained in detail by quoting examples the meaning of the expressions “Child in need of Care and Protection”, ”Child in conflict with Law”;“Offences against the Children ; ‘Sponsorship Component’ etc and the means to deal with a ‘Child who is in need of Care and Protection’ or a” Child who is in Conflict with Law’ by adopting a child-friendly approach in the adjudication and disposition of matters and how can such Children be rehabilitated through various institutions established under the Act.

At the end of the program, the Child Helpline No.1098 was also shared by the resource person with the participants. This online program was organized as per the Mandate of the Calendar of the programs of Jammu and Kashmir Legal Services Authority for the month of July under the project “Access to Justice for J&K” (Phase-II).
