Documentary and Poster making Competition on Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)

Sustainable Development Goals acceleration is one of the landmark issues under India’s G20 Presidency. In this context, Literary Committee with Department of Political Science and NSS unit of Government Degree College Sidhra under the aegis of IQAC and G20 conducted two activities on the theme G-20 and Sustainable Development Goals campaign (SDGs). The programme was started with a brief introduction of the concerned theme, given by Prof. Meesha Bhagat , convener of Literary Committee where she acquainted the students about the acceleration of SDGs in relation to upcoming G-20 summit. The programme was further carried forward by showing documentary to the students about the SDGs and the role of India in the accomplishment of these goals. The programme was further advanced with the Poster making Competition among the students on theme “ Sustainable Development Goals” A number of students from different semesters participated in the activity. The participants were adjudged by Musarat Chowdhary, HOD Economics and Prof. Pooja Sharma, HOD Dogri .
Participants tried their best to express their ideas and art through paintings and sketches. The poster making was a thematic event on Sustainable Development Goals. It generated publicity and provided information about SDGs to engage students’ interest and raised awareness about SDGs in a way that was visual and inclusive. The result of the activity was declared on the same day in which Sonu Kumar of B.A Sem VI got first position, Jatin Parihar of B.A Sem VI secured second position and third position was bagged by Ambika Sharma and Ekta Rajpu t of B.A sem IInd. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks given by Dr.. Harpreet Kour, HOD, Political Science.
The programme was organised under the patron ship of worthy Principal of the College Dr. B.B Anand. He congratulated the winners and the participants of the Competition. The programme was the joint effort of Department of Literary Committee and Dept. of Political Science and NSS Unit of the College.
