Dr Jahan from Cornell University New York addresses the students in Series of Extension Lectures organized by GDC Doda
Doda: The Career Counseling and Guidance Cell in collaboration with the Training and Placement Cell, GDC Doda organized second session of virtual interaction on Career Education under the supervision of Principal GDC Doda, Dr Shafqat Hussain Rafiqi. Around hundred students from various schools and colleges participated in the event. This session was organised with a focus to aware the students and aspiring youth about the future prospects of their career within the country and abroad. Dr Tasir Sharief Convener Career Counseling and Guidance Cell, Dr Sumit Kotwal Convener Training and Placement Cell, Prof. Mohd Ashraf Co-Convener Career Counseling and Guidance Cell and Prof. Syed Kazim member Career Counseling and Guidance Cell were the organisers of this session. Dr Mohsin Jahan Postdoctoral Associate Cornell University New York, USA was the guest speaker. After completing his intermediate from Islamia Faridia institute of Research and Education Kishtwar, Dr Mohsin did his BSc and MSc in Chemistry from Aligarh Muslim University. He did his research based M Sc from University of Eastern Finland and PhD from University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Further, he has an experience of Postdoctoral Fellow from Harvard University.
The session began with the welcome address by Dr Tasir Sharief. He also moderated the proceedings of the session. Dr Mohsin Jahan threw a detailed light on the topic. Through a powerpoint presentation he apprised the students about the avenues and opportunities for better career in diverse fields. He also enlightened the youth about different opportunities abroad. He asserted that there are ample opportunities for which students need is to equip them as per the current demand. He called this pandemic a blessing in disguise and guided the students how to make use of this time by doing different online courses and activities which will add to their credentials. Further he encouraged the students to seek admission in foreign universities and assured them assistance. Dr Jamsheed Ahmed, HoD English, GDC Chatroo also spoke on the occasion and expressed his gratitude to the guest speaker and suggested to make a platform for launching the career of the students of Chenab region. In his address he laid emphasis on the continuation of such interactive sessions. This was followed by a question-answer session wherein Dr Jahan addressed the different queries of the students satisfactorily.
It is pertinent to mention here that Career Counseling and Guidance Cell, GDC Doda has initiated the process of organizing a series of virtual interactions on Career Education. This was the second session of the series. First session was organised on June 4, 2021. The session ended with the formal vote of thanks by Dr Sumit Kotwal who assured the students that more virtual interactions would be organised in future.
