Eckovation’s project Gyanodaya Godda initiative bags Silver Award at the National E-governance Awards

The initiative aims to strengthen the quality of education at government schools in small districts across the country through Eckovation’s tech-powered, infrastructure-rich platform

New Delhi: Gyanodaya Godda, a school education initiative launched by Eckovation, along with district administration and Adani Foundation, has been felicitated with the Silver Award at the prestigious National E-governance Awards held by the Government of India for its excellence in district-level initiatives. The initiative was awarded based on multiple parameters, including the reach of the program, impact in learning outcome and replicability of the program in other districts. The award was given during the 24th National e-Governance Conference held in Hyderabad. The Chief Guest, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh and Telangana Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao presented the award to Gyanodaya Godda Team.

The Gyanodaya Godda initiative has been successfully implemented in the Godda district of Jharkhand to improve the passing percentage of students by enhancing infrastructure and resources at schools. Formed to provide quality school education in India by leveraging technology in districts across the country, Gyanodaya Godda takes the approach of institutional building and ensuring sustainability in resources. With mobile technology and ICT as the primary tools, the initiative uses Eckovation’s mobile-based platform to provide contextualized video-based learning modules and regular, comprehensive evaluation of students’ performances.

Furthermore, Eckovation’s platform facilitates an AI-based performance analysis of every student to help them improve. With every element, including students’ daily attendance and performance uploaded on the platform, the Gyanodaya Godda ensures that students remain the ultimate beneficiary of the initiative. At the same time, teachers are accorded due responsibility and accountability for their performance. Combining a multi-platform model, contextualized content, and cutting-edge technologies, the initiative sets an example of making the public education system a responsive, student-centric, and transparent one.

Speaking on the win, Mr. Ritesh Singh, Founder and CEO of Eckovation, said, “Schools in several districts across the country do not have adequate resources or infrastructure to provide students with quality education. With the Gyanodaya Godda initiative, we have laid the foundation for improving the quality of education across districts. We are thrilled to add such a huge win to our achievements and plan to continue this initiative to offer every student a chance at a better future through education. We will be announcing further developments in the initiative soon.”

After implementation, the Gyanodaya Godda project has seen students’ attendance significantly improve across all classes. While most of the schools were registering 20-30% attendance prior to the initiative, the percentage is now 77% on average, a result of the interactive, animated concept videos being used to teach students. In the 2019-20 class 10th board exams, Godda district’s pass percentage reached 75%, which is a huge improvement as compared to 66% in 2018-19 and 50% in 2017-18. This initiative has also trained teachers of 330 schools to prepare them for 2021-22. Considering the academic results achieved by the students in this district, the state government has decided to implement the Gyanodaya model across the state.
