About studying on the exchange program
Eldar Vershinin, a student at the Institute of Mathematics and Information Technology, spoke about the exchange program at the University of Eastern Finland during the spring semester of 2021.
In the spring semester of 2021, I had the opportunity to participate in an exchange program with the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), corps in Joensuu and Kuopio. I want to focus my attention precisely on the difference in the approach to teaching – a student can choose any courses he likes, a prerequisite is to get the required number of credits per semester (ECTS). Due to the coronavirus, all of my courses were distance learning.
I got an interesting experience in writing scientific papers in a remote format, got acquainted with various tools that will be useful in my studies in the future.
The next aspect that I want to draw attention to is language. The most important advantage of the exchange program is the practice of the English language. I talked with guys from Greece, Spain, Italy, France, Czech Republic, Germany, Poland, Africa, South Korea and Finland. Of course, everyone has a different level of English proficiency, but it is quite easy to find a common language and topics of conversation, each student is open to communication.
With regard to accommodation, there were various housing options to choose from.
For myself, I concluded that participation in exchange programs is an excellent opportunity to gain new knowledge, improve the level of proficiency in a foreign language.
