Essay competition results
Aligarh: Iqra Shamim, M Yaqoob and M Umair received the first, second and third prizes respectively in the recently concluded online essay writing competition on ‘Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and Modern education’.
The competition was organised by the Centre for Distance Education (CDE), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) to mark the centenary year of AMU.
“E-Certificates were awarded to the winners and also to the candidates, who scored over 50 percent marks in the competition,” said Prof M Nafees Ahmad Ansari, Director, CDE.
Meanwhile, in the self-composed poetry competition organised by the Indira Gandhi Hall, to mark the centenary year, Bisma Khan (B.A Third Semester, Women’s College) and Anamta Rehman (Class XII-PCM, AMU Girls School) won the first prize; while Aysha Hasan (Women’s College) and Sadaf Jahan (B.U.M.S student) stood second. The third place was shared by ABK High School students, Hazia Zakir and Naila Asif. Farheen Shakeel (MA Urdu) received the consolation prize.
Anamta Rehman (AMU Girls School), Maryam Siddiqui (BSc, Second Year) and Saba Parveen (B.U.M.S, Third Semester) were declared the winners of the essay writing competition in which Hadia Zabi (B.A Third Semester) and Sahar Saleem (M.A English) secured second and third positions respectively.
In the slogan writing contest, Afeefa Kaleem (ABK High School), Adeeba Alam (ABK High School) and Anamta Rehman (AMU Girls School) won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
E-certificates were mailed to the winners, said Prof Sheeba Hamid (Provost, IG Hall).
She added: All the three competitions were on the topic, ‘Life and vision of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’.
