Extension lecture held on Non-operating room anaesthesia

ALIGARH : The Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized an extension lecture on “Non-Operating Room Anaesthesia (NORA) Speciality” by Dr. Tazeen Beg (Division Chief, NORA, Stony Brook Medicine, USA).

In his lecture, Dr Tazeen Beg, who is also an alumnus of JN Medical College, talked in detail about the relevance and challenges in the development of the non-operating room Anaesthesia. She emphasized the peculiar nature of this speciality in terms of preparation and management of the patient in an unfamiliar environment.

In her presidential remarks, Prof. Veena Maheshwari (Dean, Faculty of Medicine) said such lectures will raise awareness among medical professionals in this field and help them improve their NORA skills.

In his remarks, chief guest, Prof. Rakesh Bhargava (Principal and CMS, J N Medical College) underlined the relevance of bronchoscopic procedures.

The guest of honor, Prof. Rashid Manzoor Khan, presently working as Senior Consultant in Oman, highlighted the importance of NORA and appreciated the recent developments in the department.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof. Qazi Ehsan Ali (Chairman of the department) said that a series of lectures has been planned to help residents raise their knowledge and skill in relevant fields.

He said the Department of Anaesthesiology has started this novel specialty a year ago and at present we are providing services to Endoscopy Unit, Cath Lab, Bronchoscopy suite, and Electroconvulsive therapy Units.
