Eye Donation Fortnight at AMU Concludes with Felicitation Ceremony
Aligarh : The Department of Ophthalmology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) marked the conclusion of its Eye Donation Fortnight with a grand felicitation ceremony. The event served as a platform to celebrate the outstanding efforts put forth by the AMU Eye Bank during the fortnight while acknowledging the invaluable contributions of donor families, students, medical professionals, and dedicated volunteers.
Prof. A K Amitava, Chairman, Department of Ophthalmology extended a warm invitation to donor families to share their experiences and conveyed heartfelt gratitude for their selfless contributions.
Donor families were held in high esteem for their unwavering motivation and boundless generosity. Patients who had received the precious gift of corneal tissue, thanks to eye donation, graced the event and expressed profound gratitude to the donor families.
Prof Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine expressed deep appreciation for the commendable work accomplished by the eye bank and pledged unwavering support for its future endeavours.
Dr. Adeeb Alam Khan, former Incharge of the Eye Bank, shared the inspiring journey of the eye bank, emphasizing the challenges surmounted and the critical importance of sustaining dedication to the cause.
Dr. S K Gaur and Dr. Jayant Sharma from ‘Deh Daan Sanstha’ were recognized for their significant contributions, along with CA Anil Varshney, a steadfast supporter of the cause.
Dr. M Saquib, Assistant Incharge of the Eye Bank, joined by Dr. Sameen Mirza, shared insights into the multitude of events and initiatives organized throughout the Eye Donation Fortnight.
The exceptional commitment of MBBS students from J N Medical College was especially recognized, as they secured prizeS for their relentless efforts in promoting eye donation awareness.
Dr. Zia Siddiqui extended heartfelt gratitude to all the distinguished guests, participants, and dedicated volunteers who contributed to the success of the Eye Donation Fortnight and the felicitation ceremony.
The event also saw active participation from Mr. Sabir of the Eye Bank, Dr. Sameen Mirza, Dr. Razi, and Hansika Saxena.
