Eye Donation Fortnight concludes with prize distribution
Aligarh : Fine Arts student, Kunal Jain won the poster-making competition held during the concluding ceremony of the ‘37th National Eye Donation Fortnight’ of the Institute of Ophthalmology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) on Thursday.
Dr Razi Anwar, pursuing post graduation in Ophthalmology stood second; while BSc Optometry students, Cheryl Isha, Saba Wasi and Huda Ali shared the third prize.
Prof Rakesh Bhargava (Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal, JNMC) and Prof AK Amitava distributed prizes to the winners and discussed the importance of eye donation.
Prof Rakesh Bhargava motivated people to pledge for eye donation.
Prof Amitava delivered the welcome address.
Prof Adeeb A Khan spoke about the Eye Bank at the Institute of Ophthalmology and about numerous people who have benefited with the facility since its inception in 2006.
Dr Ziya Siddiqui extended the vote of thanks and Dr M Saquib conducted the programme.
Meanwhile, relatives of eye donors also spoke about their experiences and were felicitated.
