Faculty development programme begins at Department of Statistics, AMU

Aligarh: The Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Aligarh Muslim University began a one-week faculty development programme on “Statistics and Optimization Techniques Using Software Packages”.

The programe is being attended by 72 participants from across the country of different disciplines.

Addressing the inaugural function, Aligarh Muslim University, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Akhter Haseeb said that researchers need to be trained through such programmes for valid inferences of research outputs and the theses.

Guest of honour, Professor Qazi Mazhar Ali cautioned participants against the misuse of statistics while Professor Aquil Ahmed, Coordinator of the Programme underlined the significance of the programme. The resource person, Professor Masood Siddiqui, Dean (Research), Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow was also present on the occasion.

Earlier, Professor Athar Ali Khan, Chairman of the department welcomed the guests while Professor Aquil Ahmed proposed a vote of thanks.
