FDP on Innovative Teaching Pedagogies organised by Department of Pharmacy CGC Landran

A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) focused on research-based teaching learning pedagogy in Pharmaceutical Sciences was organised by Chandigarh College of Pharmacy (CCP), CGC Landran. The event was attended by more than 40 faculty members, who engaged in insightful sessions led by distinguished experts in the field. It was aimed at equipping the participants with effective strategies to integrate research-driven methods into their teaching practices, which would help them create a dynamic and effective learning environment for their students.

Day one of the FDP commenced with two sessions beginning with the guest of honour, Dr. Amit Bhatia, Professor and HoD, department of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, sharing insights on Translational Research, followed by a session on ‘PROTAC targeted protein degraders,’ by Dr. Raj Kumar, Professor and Head, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda.  The second day of the FDP featured Dr. Neeraj Khatri, Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-Institute Of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), Chandigarh, who highlighted the importance of adhering to biosafety protocols via an engaging session on ‘Biosafety: Understanding the basic principles, risk assessment and mitigation.’ Sessions on Day three of the FDP were helmed by Mr. Hitesh K. Gulati, Consultant, Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar, Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Kamalinder Kaur, CSE department, CGC Landran. While Mr. Gulati’s address offered effective strategies for stress management, Dr. Anil Kumar enlightened them on the ‘Role of Artificial Intelligence in Pharmacy: Emerging trends and challenges.’ Day four was graced by the presence of Dr. P.K. Tulsi, Ex-Professor, National Institute of Technical Teachers Training & Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh who spearheaded a session elucidating on various instructional methods for academics under active learning strategies. This was followed by Ms Gurleen Kaur discussing techniques which could help teachers assess student psychology in the classroom.  The concluding day of the FDP, encompassed sessions by experts including Dr. Dipika Bansal, Assistant Professor, National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, Dr. Suresh Kumar Sharma, Panjab University, Chandigarh. They shared thoughts on subjects including ‘Indirect evidence synthesis using network meta-analysis approach’ and ‘Research-based teaching and learning pedagogy in Pharmaceutical Sciences,’ respectively.  Following a productive lunch break, the afternoon session was helmed by Dr. Ranju Bansal, Professor, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Dr. Bansal delivered an engaging and informative session on ‘Lead-Based drug discovery: A case study on steroids as anticancer agents.’ Her presentation highlighted innovative approaches in drug discovery.

The FDP concluded with Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Director-Principal, CCP, CGC Landran delivering the closing remarks where commending the success of this event he added that it highlighted CGC’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and continuous professional development. A felicitation ceremony where all the participants were presented with certificates marked the successful completion of the programme.
