FICCI FLO and Asha Gautam present A heritage walk ‘Raagmaya Sutra’ to promote and revive traditional handlooms

New Delhi: FICCI ladies Organisation (FLO) , an apex body of businesswomen in the country along with an eminent fashion designers and revivalists Asha Gupota and Gautam Gupta today presented traditional handloom and textiles through a fashion show titled. “Raagmaya Sutra” is a Sanskrit phrase meaning “Colored Thread”. As part of the two day textile and handloom show ‘Anshukam’ which concluded here today.

‘Raagmaya Sutra’ , a heritage fashion walk showcased is a collection of handmade Paithani, banarasi, and bandhani sarees and lehengas. All these crafts require intense labor and craftsmanship to prepare every piece. These textiles are a play of colors and vibrance. Many hues with various shades give a mesmerizing feel to the fabric and a sense of pride and happiness to the one who owns it.” Said Ms Jayanti Dalmia, National President, FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) who was also the show stopper at the fashion show

“To add to the beauty of these beautifully interlaced colorful threads, rich embroideries have been done on these such as petit point, convent, and zardozi- each one of which is a beautiful yet time taking process. This collection was inspired by nature- its landscapes, and narratives- in vibrant colors and serene moods.” Ms Dalmia added.

“Anshukam is a great two-day initiative on 20th and 21st November by FICCI FLO for Indian textiles and handlooms, we are pleased to do a heritage walk showcasing our handlooms and crafts to be embraced not only by models but also by FICCI FLO members” said Ms Asha Gupta , organizer of the heritage walk.

“ Ms. Shinjini Kulkarni who is the granddaughter of the Kathak Maestro Pt. Birju Maharaj opened and closed the show with her performance. Another special feature of the show wasz a beautiful soul walking the ramp (Ms. Deepa) an acid attack victim. As a brand, we have always believed in including all sections of society in mainstream fashion. This heritage walk by FICCI FLO members from various parts of the country and those two beautiful souls is a great tribute for us and our artisans ” said Gautam Gupta, partner of Asha Guatam.

Asha Gautam presented the collection at Anshukam, held at Ashoka Hotel, an initiative by FICCI to promote and celebrate Indian textiles and handlooms.

Another highlight was a fashion show by children of ‘Udyancare’ an orphanage and Ganesh Vandana by children with special needs of Foursteps school.

Those present during the show included Manjari Mishra, princess of Ayodhya and an eminent fashion designer herself along with past presidents of FLO including Ms Abha Dalmia, Ms Vasvi Bharat Ram and secretary general FLO MS Rashmi Sarita and Treasurer Ms Poonam Mahajan.
