FICCI welcomes the detailed guidelines issued by the MHA for calibrated relaxation in the lockdown

New Delhi: FICCI welcomes the detailed guidelines issued by the MHA towards operationalizing the lifting of the lockdown post April 20, 2020 after reviewing the ground situation. The apex industry chamber thanks the government for accepting our suggestion of the staggered exit from the lockdown, with the complete lockdown continuing only in hotspots, to save lives & livelihoods.

“Given that this period coincides with the harvesting of the rabbi crop, the opening up of the agriculture and allied sectors and the graded lifting of lockdown in key non-essential sectors that will alleviate the hardships being faced by the public at large, and give opportunities to daily wage earners and other under privileged sections of society is welcome,” said Mr Dilip Chenoy, Secretary General, FICCI.

However, these measures have to be combined with strict adherence to social distancing and other safety precautions as required by various orders of the government. Industry fully supports the importance of such safety measures towards the containment of the virus. To this effect, FICCI had prepared a detailed and comprehensive SOPs for industry to be followed, and the same was submitted to the government.

FICCI applauds the government taking cognizance of the difficulties that industry was facing in connecting the entire value chain in the manufacturing and the services sector. We are happy to note that FICCI recommendations towards this have been accepted by the government. The administrative and enforcement agencies need to put in place the mechanisms to facilitate the working at the ground level.
