GDC Doda organizes Plantation Drive to celebrate National Science Day
Doda : The NSS Unit, Green Rangers Ecoclub and Department of Botany organized one day Plantation Drive in the college campus in collaboration with forest department under the aegis of IQAC of the institution. The event began with the plantation of a Deodar sapling by Dr. Attar Singh Kotwal, Principal of the college and Adil Shan, Range Officer (HQ), Doda. He impressed upon the role of students as environmental messengers and urgent need of saving this green gold for future generations. He appreciated the role of Conservator of forests, Chenab Circle for his ever-available noble support for plantation activities by the college administration. The faculty members alongwith volunteers of the NSS unit and ecoclub actively participated in this drive and planted about 30 saplings of Deodar along the circumference of college playground and botanical garden. Dr. Sumit Kotwal, NSS Programme Officer of the college and Dr. Tasir Sharief, Head, Department of Botany located the sites for plantation in the college campus in close co-operation with the staff of forest department. Dr. Aijaz Ahmed Wani, IQAC coordinator of the college shared the importance of national science day with the students. NSS volunteers and members of the college ecoclub participated with great enthusiasm in the event. The faculty members who participated in this drive include Dr. Anita Kotwal, Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Prof. Purnima Manhas, Prof. Akrity Parihar, Dr. Jagmohan Sharma, Dr. Ravinder Singh, Prof. Upma Kumari, Prof. Preeti Devi, Dr. Akhter Hussain, Prof. Zain Batt and Dr. Manish Thakur.
