GDC Pouni organised the series of events on World Environment Day

 

REASI : Government Degree College Pouni under the aegis of Azdi ka Amrit Mahotsav organised series of events in continuation with yesterday’s Poster-making competition on the occasion of World Environment Day.

A Quiz competition and Cleanliness drive was held under the patronship of Prof. Rajni Bhagat, GDC Pouni.

“Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature,” Department of Environmental Science in collaboration with NSS and Red Ribbon Club organised quiz competition and cleanliness drive with special focus on the plastic waste.

These activities offer opportunities for students to learn the values of teamwork, individual and group responsibility, competition, diversity, and a sense of culture and community. Such activities provide a channel for reinforcing the lessons learned in the classroom, offering students the opportunity to apply academic skills in a real-world context, and are thus considered part of a well-rounded education.

Keeping in mind the theme, “Only one Earth,” a large number of students came forward for the quiz competition and cleanliness drive.

More than 100 participants attempted the quiz, consisting of students and Professors, and e-certificates were issued to those who secured more than 75 marks. Cleanliness drive was started from 8 am in the morning.

Whereas Dr. Prem Singh, HOD Political Science, Prof. Balbir kumar, NSS Convener and HOD Economics, Prof. U S Liza, RRC Convener and HOD English, and Prof. Bindu Sharma, HOD Environment Science supervised and conducted the series of events on the World Environment Day.

These active members of the committee also asked all other department heads to ensure that surroundings are neat and clean and plastic free. Esteemed Principal, Prof. Rajni Bhagat welcomed the efforts of the students and Professors who tried their best not only in creating awareness but actually executing the thought of keeping the environment plastic free into deeds.
