Cuttack : The International Symposium on “Climate Change Mitigation with AI & ML” concluded on a high note at Sri Sri University, marking a significant step forward in the global efforts to address climate change through innovative technologies and collaborative initiatives.The symposium organized by the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) and the Faculty of Science (FOS), brought together renowned experts, scholars, and practitioners from around the world to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and climate change mitigation.
The event commenced with an esteemed lineup of dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) Rabinarayana Satpathy, Dean of FET, and Prof. (Dr.) Amarendra Narayan Mishra, Dean of FOS. Prof (Dr.) Satpathy gave an insight on the tools and techniques to check on climate change and Prof. (Dr.) Mishra spoke on Awareness of global climate change and its impact on living organisms and beyond the Horizon. Professor (Dr.) Anil Sharma, Dean AR and E, SSU gave an introductory speech on the Topic Ecosystem and Biodiversity. Climate change and its impact on agriculture. Swami Satya Chaitanya, Director of Operation gave an insight on the topic, that the change is inevitable and can only be balanced and then linked the current topic with the views of ancient scientists on how to balance the change of the Ecosystem.
Distinguished guests Prof. Paramita Sen and Prof. Neal Phillip from City University New York (CUNY), shared their expertise and perspectives on climate change mitigation strategies. Professor Sen affirmed that the climate change phenomenon is not restricted to the Troposphere. It’s going in the Stratosphere. She spoke about the ozone layer and also provided information of satellite data regarding the Exosphere and the relationship between human and nature. Professor Philip also gave a vivid insight on the relevant topic.
Throughout the symposium, attendees had the privilege of engaging with luminaries such as data scientists from IBM New York Mr. Fayic Suleman and Amin Abou-Gallala who emphasized the pivotal role of AI in addressing climate challenges. In the online session, they gave an introductory insight of Climate change and AI and how to interlink the AL and ML with climate change. Mr. Suleman focused on energy efficient Programming Language. Dr. Sanjay Shitole from SNDT Women’s University provided valuable insights into the implementation of ML techniques for climate change mitigation.
The interactive workshops led by Prof. Neal Phillip and Prof. Paramita Sen explored various tools and techniques used to monitor and combat climate change, demonstrating practical applications of AI and ML in environmental stewardship by displaying them.
The symposium concluded with a warm vote of thanks by Satyajeet Arya, Assistant Professor of FOS, expressing gratitude to all participants and speakers for their valuable contributions. Invited speakers were felicitated by dignitaries of Sri Sri University in recognition of their efforts to advance the dialogue on climate change mitigation.
