Governor Tandon inaugurates Adi Mahotsav at Bhopal Haat

Bhopal : Inaugurating the Adi Mahotsav at Bhopal Haat, Governor Shri Lalji Tandon said that there is a need to preserve and encourage the culture, art-skills and knowledge of the tribal society which are conductors of Indian culture. He said that ground efforts are necessary to connect tribal society with the mainstream of development. There should be active participation of the society in this. Referring to the glorious history of the tribal society, the Governor described their sacrifices for the country as venerable.

Presiding over the inaugural programme, Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Omkar Singh Markam said that tribal society has a deep relationship with nature and agriculture. This society respects and protects them. In tribal society, there are cultural traditions like beej-pujan before the sowing of the crop. Shri Markam said that tribal society has an amazing ability to recognize valuable medicines and herbs. He said that the state government has started efforts towards preservation of tribal foodgrain, art-skills, culture and knowledge.

President of Laghu Vanopaj Sangh Shri Virendra Giri, Chairman of TRIFED, New Delhi Shri R. C. Meena, Regional Manager Shri J.S. Shekhawat and dignitaries were present in the concluding ceremony.
