GREAT Scholarships India 2019: Enabling students to realise their UK education dreams
New Delhi: The British Council, partner to the GREAT Britain campaign, has announced the GREAT Education Scholarships India 2019. GREAT, along with 36 partner UK universities will offer up to 35 full tuition scholarships to prospective undergraduate and postgraduate, full-time students who will enrol in the September/October 2019 session at the designated universities.
The scholarships cover a broad range of fields – Social and Natural Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Governance, Education and others. The scholarships will enable students to study in world class institutions which foster creativity, critical thinking and offer hands on experience to students. The GREAT and other scholarships offered and facilitated by the British Council, are part of the organisation’s efforts to enable student mobility between India and the UK by improving access to quality education. Almost 19,500 Indian nationals were granted a student visa in 2018, showing a 35% increase over 2017 and the highest since 2011. 96% of students who applied for a UK student visa in this time period were successful. Scholarship details & eligibility criteria
For an undergraduate degree, the tuition scholarship is for the first year of study only
For a post graduate study, the tuition scholarship is for one year of study at the master’s level (Scholarships can be offered for the first year of study of a two-year master’s programme)
Scholarships will be awarded to those selected students who demonstrate leadership qualities and potential
To be considered for the scholarship, participating UK higher education institution will have to nominate candidates in a prescribed format before 15 May 2019.
The nominated students need to submit an application for the scholarship through their chosen UK higher education institution before 1 June 2019.
The British Council selection panel will select the scholarship awardees on set parameters. The names of the selected scholars will be announced by 1 July 2019.
