Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Shri Vinay Pratap Singh felicitates meritorious underprivileged children
Gurugram: Marking an important step in the welfare of underprivileged children, DLF Foundation organized Scholars’ Conclave at Ridge Valley School, DLF Phase IV, Gurgaon. The event celebrated the scholarly achievements of the underprivileged children in the gracious presence of their teachers, mentors, and parents. Held under the aegis of its flagship initiative Talent Nurturing Program, the event celebrated the academic achievement of 16 students. They were awarded cash vouchers on the occasion.
The conclave opened with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Deputy Commissioner Gurugram Shri Vinay Pratap Singh.
Lauding the efforts of scholars, Shri Vinay Pratap Singh said: “One of the important determinants of success is hard work. Circumstances, no matter adverse may be, can be changed through hard work. God’s blessings and parents’ support Is also necessary for success. I would like to congratulate DLF Foundation for nurturing these children and helping them realize their dreams.”
In his inaugural address, Dr. Vinay Sahni, CEO, DLF Foundation said, “the objective of Talent Nurturing Program is to provide access to quality education and aim at the all-round development of underprivileged students by providing scholarship and allied soft skills training, mentoring, coaching, career guidance, performance tracking and remedial measures. This is in line with our vision to achieve an inclusive and equitable society.”
Mr. PK Joseph, Director Programmes, while delivering the impact of the programme, said that currently, DLF Foundation supports over 1200 talented underprivileged students, including 944 School Scholars and 256 Professional Scholars with scholarship and allied coaching, mentoring and counseling services. “ He further added “Our efforts are geared towards, supporting those less privileged students with high aspirations and potential with ambitious career dreams, to enable them to discover their innate passion and capabilities, by giving them, mentors, guides or counselors and facilitate giving them a school environment that is tailored towards talent extraction and recognize their talents be it in academics, music, arts & sports”.
Young achievers also recounted their experiences on the occasion of felicitation. Anjali Singh, one of the achievers, who scored examination said, “I am thankful to DLF Foundation for their consistent support. English has been my weak area. The remedial classes organized by DLF Foundation helped me to gain confidence.”
The highlight of the evening was a cultural programme titled ‘Ashoka’ which enthralled the audience.
Held annually, the Scholars Conclave aims to provide a platform for the scholars to manifest their multi-faceted talents, award the high achievers and give them the much-needed motivation, inspiration, and encouragement and thereby help them move towards their career aspirations.
‘Talent Nurturing Programme’, a flagship project of DLF Foundation, aims to give access to quality education to talented underprivileged students selected based on their merit and income. DLF Foundation also provides them with the much-needed coaching, counseling, mentoring and soft skills training and awards the high achievers. The ultimate aim is to transform, particularly, the girl students and groom them as new generation leaders by honing their intellect and social/soft skills in multi-dimensional ways.
