Harvesting of Bhindi for Seed Purpose begins at JPAE Farm

 

JAMMU : Director Agriculture Production & Farmers’ Welfare Jammu, K. K. Sharma today inaugurated the first pick of the seed harvest of Bhindi (Jammu Okra-05) raised at Jammu Province Agriculture Experimental (JPAE) Farm, Talab Tillo.

The Director instructed the farm staff for timely picking, proper drying and storage to maintain the quality of seed. He also inspected other field activities being under taken at the JPAE Farm under vegetable improvement scheme.

It was apprised that the variety Jammu Okra-05 has been raised over an area of 13 Kanal and a bumper production is expected. Pertinently the foundation seed has great demand among the farmers of Jammu division owing to its tenderness, profuse branching and lush green fruiting.

Among others present were Agronomist Vegetable Improvement Scheme (VIS), J. C. Raina, farm Manager JPAE farm, Arun Jaral and Farm Supervisor, Om Prakesh.
