Himachal Pradesh Governor addresses 37th Installation Ceremony of Rotary Club Hyderabad
Shimla: Governor Bandaru Dattatraya said that Rotary has an important contribution in the field of social services and the way Rotary was playing its pivotal role in corona pandemic was laudable.
The Governor was speaking on the occasion of 37th Installation Ceremony of Rotary Club of Hyderabad Midtown through video conferencing from Raj Bhavan, Shima, today.
He said that Rotary was not just a club to join for people rather an invitation to endless opportunities having a presence in 222 countries with 1.2 million people across the globe. He added that there are 535 districts in the world and 22 districts in India with more than two lakh Rotarians of dedicated leaders, bringing a vast change to the society.
The Governor appreciated the education and literacy programme of the club and said that their new initiative under ‘Asha Kiran’ to send students back to schools was really appreciable. Besides this, other programmes like sanitation, polio eradication, blood donation health camps, youth exchange programme and interface with the Government in e-learning programme was also well appreciated, said Dattatraya. He said that there were many areas where Rotary could interface with the Government and provide support in focussed areas.
Shri Dattatraya said that Rotary had contributed a good sum of funds for PM Funds in the pandemic period, extended support by awareness camps, distributed dry ration, mask, PPE kits, sanitizers etc which was really laudable.
Earlier, N.V. Hanumanth Reddy, Guest of Honour welcomed the Governor and lauded the role of Rotary in social service and said that they should contribute more in the pandemic period by sensitizing the people about COVID-19.
Anand Chakrapani, Special Guest also spoke on the occasion.
Girija Sampath, President also welcomed the Governor and other dignitaries on the occasion and briefed about the activities of the Rotary Club of Hyderabad Midtown.
