Home Minister Amit Shah launches initiatives to mark two years of NEP 2020

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the National Education Policy, NEP -2020 lays the foundation for a self-reliant, empowered and secured India. He said, the new education policy which was brought after 34 years will bring transformational changes in the education system of the country.

Mr Shah was addressing a function organised to mark the completion of the launch of two years of National Education Policy- 2020. Mr Shah added that it is a reflection of the aspirations of students, teachers and parents. He said that NEP 2020 enriches knowledge and culture and is aligned with the aspirations of society. The Union Home Minister said that the Centre and States should work as a team for its effective and successful implementation. He also urged the States to chalk out a strategy for its effective implementation.

On the occasion, Mr Shah launched several initiatives under NEP-2020 which cover the entire spectrum of education and skill development verticals including areas like digital education, innovation, synergising education and skill development, teacher training and assessment. The initiatives launched today include Mobile App for Public Consultation Survey for National Curriculum Framework, School Innovation Policy, National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA), Vidya Amrit Portal, Skill India Partnership with IGNOU for the three-year degree programme and Skill Hubs under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana. Vidya Amrit portal is being enabled for scaling up the micro-improvements taking place in school education in different parts of the country.

The Skill Hubs” initiative aims at creating a shared infrastructure with education & skilling ecosystem. Under its pilot programme, nearly 2000 Skill Hubs have been set up with more than 1.53 lakh candidates who have been trained so far.
