Horticulture Department holds Farmers; awareness camp at Sangaldan
Ramban: Department of Horticulture, District, Ramban today conducted farmers’ awareness camp at Sangaldan under Backyard Horticulture scheme.
The camp attended by District Development Council Chairperson, Dr. Shamshada Shan and about 150 farmers of Sangaldan and its adjoining areas.
While speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairperson appreciated the efforts of the Department of Horticulture for holding awareness camps farmers. She exhorted upon the farmers to avail maximum benefits of the on-going central and UT sponsored schemes for uplift of their socio-economic status. She said that the Horticulture and allied activities is the only sustainable sectors for boosting rural economy. She vehemently asked the farmers to avail benefit of High Density Plantation scheme, to earn best returns. She asked them to avail incentives available for creation of water sources, polygreen house structures, new orchard establishment, horticulture mechanization, vermicompost units, pack house, tool implements, irrigation pumps, HDPE pipes etc. She also directed the department of Horticulture to conduct more awareness camps in District Ramban for the economic uplift of the farming community. She issued instructions to conduct Panchayat Level census of fruit plants in Gool block and also provide technical guidance to the farmers like pruning, canopy management and timely application of fertilizer.
On the occasion, she distributed fruit plants among the participants and urged them to plant the same as per the guidelines of the Department of Horticulture.
Chief Horticulture Officer, Ramban, Vaishno Kant Gupta reiterated that farmers welfare is the core agenda of the Department of Horticulture and it will ensure that all workable reforms and departmental schemes reach to each and every targeted section in a hassle free manner. He also sought suggestions from the participants for providing hassle free services to the farming community and to address complaints and grievances in an effective manner.
District Level Subject Matter Specialist, Pardeep Gupta, discussed in detail all the departmental schemes and asked the farmers to avail maximum benefits to improve their income. Rohan Kumar, HDO was also present on the occasion.
