ICSL launches ReSet Certificate Course for Teachers

New Delhi : ICSL – International Council for School Leadership, India’s premier not-for-profit institution for education leadership – has launched ReSet – a 3-week live and interactive certificate program for educators to “Relearn Essential Skills for Excellence in Teaching”, hence the acronym ReSET.

According to ICSL administrators, India has about 98 lakh schoolteachers, all of whom need to be reskilled to manage the disruptions caused by the pandemic as well as to implement the National Education Policy. To address these crucial needs, experts from the non-profit organisation, International Council for School Leadership (ICSL) designed a certificate course for teachers to Relearn Essential Skills for Excellence in Teaching (ReSET).

According to Dr. Atul Nischal, Course Director and ICSL Founder, “ReSET focuses on inspiring, enabling, and empowering educators to implement the reforms proposed by the NEP using research based innovative practices in learner-centric pedagogy, educational technology, and online assessments.”

ReSET is the only certificate course for teachers that uses both synchronous and asynchronous learning tools. Every week from Monday to Thursday, participants interact with the mentors through highly interactive Zoom sessions of 2 hours each. Participants can use CANVAS LMS to access the content, participate in online discussions, and complete the assignments and assessments during and after the course.

A team of established experts including Mr. G. Balasubramanian, Former Director (Academics), CBSE, Dr. Rajesh Hassija, Director-Principal, Indraprastha Group of Schools, and Mrs. Sangeeta Krishan, School Inspector, KHDA mentor participants of ReSET throughout the course.

ICSL has already conducted four batches of ReSET. The highest participation of teachers has been from Maharashtra and Nigeria, proving the relevance of the course for Indian schools across geographical boundaries. Since ReSET is board-neutral and grade-neutral, teachers of pre-kindergarten to secondary classes have attended the course.

Meenakshi Narula from Shemford Futuristic K-12 School, who took the course, said, “The course was phenomenal. The 3-week learning, and exploration journey was fascinating, engaging, and fruitful.” According to Reshma Kuruvila, a participant from the inaugural batch of ReSET, “It was a very interactive course where we were made to think, rethink and reconsider, learn, unlearn and relearn our existing beliefs and practices.”

The course is affordably priced at INR 6000 and will be further subsidized for the teachers sponsored by the state education departments. The next batch will commence on 19th July,2021.
