IILM’s International Conference underscores the pressing need for extensive collaboration to ensure a sustainable future

Gurugram: With a range of thought-provoking discussions to address the key sustainability challenges, IILM’s prominent international conference served as a unique platform for renowned global experts to converge.

The two-day conference was meticulously designed to promote comprehensive discussions among diverse stakeholders including policymakers, businesses, individuals and communities for a collective approach towards sustainable living.

Witnessing an astounding success, IILM’s international conference touched upon contemporary issues facing the world such as environmental degradation, climate change, social exclusion, unequal distribution of income, and economic crisis. Also, the distinguished experts at the conference jointly acknowledged the pivotal role of technology to accomplish sustainability objectives.

The event commenced with the lighting of a lamp followed by a welcome address by vice-chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Sujata Shahi and a keynote address by Dr R.K Sinha, Vice Chancellor, Gautam Buddha University.

Congratulating IILM for this commendable initiative, Mr Suresh Prabhu, Chief Guest and Former Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Railways, Commerce & Industry, Chemicals & Fertilisers, Environment & Forests & Power, said, ”Sustainable development will ensure that our forthcoming generations enjoy the access to the same level of resources as us. Also, it is imperative for us to focus on ethics of development so that emerging technologies like AI do not prove detrimental to human civilisation.’’

Mr Prabhu at the conference also released the book “New Age Technologies, Innovation and Sustainable Development” edited by Prof (Dr) Arvind Chaturvedi, Pro Vice Chancellor of the University.

 

Additionally, the conference incorporated an extensive panel discussion titled ‘’Accelerating Sustainable Development through Innovation.’’ The discussion on day 1 featured eminent panellists who delved deep into the significance of innovation and emerging technologies to drive sustainable development.

The technical sessions saw 42 papers that were discussed and deliberated on.

Some of the esteemed chief guests who graced the occasion with their presence included- Dr RK Sinha, Vice Chancellor, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida on the first day of the conference, while the valedictory address was delivered by Dr SK Jain, Former Vice Chancellor – Mata Vaishno Devi University.
