Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli inaugurated the second batch of the Post Graduate Certificate in Banking and Finance on 8th January 2023. This one-year programme aims at bolstering an understanding of the financial and banking aspects of managing an organization by exposing the learners to the emerging areas of fin-tech, taxation and derivatives.

The event was graced with the presence of Dr. Sanjay Salunkhe, Chairman and MD, Jaro Education and Programme Directors – Professor V Gopal and Professor Shalini V. The dignitaries inaugurated the event with an invocation song and the lightning of the lamp.

In his address, Dr. Sanjay Salunkhe congratulated the participants and outlined the entrepreneurial aspects of this course. He urged the participants to develop a diverse set of competencies to transform into effective corporate leaders and not restrict themselves merely to a particular domain. He underlined the significance of human capital, ethical leadership, analytics, and technology in a business institution and advised the participants to value their networks as their net worth. He stated that one must be a perpetual learner in order to expand one’s knowledge by efficiently unlearning and re-learning new skill sets.

Professor V Gopal, Programme Director, extended a warm welcome to the guests and the participants and briefed them about the course outline. He directed them on the three broad fields that the course entails – the basics of financial accounting and banking, an understanding of the emerging areas of derivatives, fintech and taxation, and the aspects of general management, which involves exposure to the world of mergers and acquisitions and quantitative technology.

Professor Shalini V, Programme Director, addressed the gathering and guided the participants on how to ace this course curriculum. She urged the participants to keep updating their knowledge with the ever-evolving trends of the world and to be perpetual seekers in the pursuit of excellence in order to effectively lead an organization.

The ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks by Prof. Shalini V, followed by the national anthem.
