IIT Bhubaneswar successfully organizes Hindi Pakhwada to promote the Official Use of Rajbhasha
Bhubaneswar : Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has successfully organized Hindi Fortnight (Hindi Pakhwada) to celebrate the importance of Hindi as Official Language of India (Raj Bhasha) and promote the use of the language among its members and the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT Bhubaneswar. The Institute organized Various programmes and competitions from 14th to 29th September to mark the occasion. The 15-day long celebrations was inaugurated on 14th September with an Exhibition of books written in Hindi, marking the observation of the Hindi Divas and concluded on 29th September with the distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions. Jointly coordinated by the Rajbhasha Ekak (Rajbhasha Cell) and the Hindi Literary Society of Students Gymkhana ‘Abhivyakti’, a host of activities and competitions were organized during the fortnight for the members and students of IIT Bhubaneswar. Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar and Shri Bamadev Acharya, Registrar graced the concluding ceremony of the Hindi Pakhwada.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar emphasized on the importance of Hindi as the Official Language of India and elaborated on how this language has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the unity of India and nurturing the culture of the country. He also mentioned about the rich Hindi literature and its contribution to the development of Indian culture. He encouraged all the members of IIT Bhubaneswar to use Hindi in their day-to-day official work and try to strike a balance between our linguistic heritage and the development of the modern age.
In his address, Registrar of the Institute Shri Bamadev Acharya expressed his satisfaction regarding the active participation of the members of the Institute in the Hindi Pakhwada programme and the competitions organized during the fortnight. He has also urged the members to work towards the promotion of Hindi and be more proactive towards participating in these programmes in future.
Dr. Chetan, Professor-in-Charge, Rajbhasa Ekak, IIT Bhubaneswar delivered the welcome address on this occasion. The winners of various competitions received prizes from Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar and Shri Bamadev Acharya. Dr. Sambhunath Sahoo, Assistant Librarian and Hindi Officer In-charge, IIT Bhubaneswar proposed a vote of thanks.
